In the Oriental Medicine program* at AMC, students participate in an in-depth course of study, which is spread over four academic years, but may be completed in as little as 36 months. Meeting all educational requirements of the State of Florida and the NCCAOM (National Commission for Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), the Oriental Medicine program combines essential training and education in anatomy, biology, biochemistry, herbal medicine, pharmacology, physiology, medical terminology, diagnostic methods and systems in relation to TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), and clinical practice with comprehensive theories of TCM, acupuncture and needling techniques (as well as point locations), homeopathy, Western science, Qi Kung (Qigong), Tuina and other Chinese medicine modalities. (*Applicants who wish to enter the Oriental Medicine program at AMC must meet certain eligibility requirements, which include: 60 college credits from an accredited institution, competency in the English language, and applicants must be a U.S. resident and a minimum of 21 years of age.)
The seven-month massage therapy program at Acupuncture and Massage College offers an in-depth and practical training curriculum in a wide assortment of massage modalities as well as fundamental education in ethics, musculoskeletal anatomy, pathology, physiology, and legal issues surrounding the practice. In addition, students gain hands-on training in aromatherapy, cranial-sacral therapy, Swedish massage, medical massage, Shiatsu, Qi Kung, and hydrotherapy.
